What are the effects of missing the time to operate for strabismus?

The main effect of missed strabismus surgery is to affect the development of stereopsis. Children with congenital internal strabismus are very young and have constant internal strabismus. These children need to have their eye position adjusted to a positive position as soon as possible to give the eye a chance to develop binocular vision. If surgery is not performed until the development of binocular vision is complete, it will only improve the appearance, but not restore stereopsis. This can have a significant impact on the child’s future career and life choices. The same is true for vertical strabismus. If the timing of the surgery is missed, the child’s head will be crooked for too long, and even some children’s faces will be deformed, and the two sides of the face will not be the same size, then the surgery will not be effective, and some children will not be able to fully recover from the symptoms of crooked head.
