The following causes of bilateral adrenal enlargement in small cell lung cancer are present.
Small cell lung cancer is a malignant tumour that is prone to recurrence and metastasis, and the adrenal gland is one of the sites where systemic malignant tumours are prone to metastasis. When a patient with small cell lung cancer is found to have bilateral adrenal gland thickening on imaging, the first consideration is adrenal metastases, whose adrenal endocrine function may not be affected, and further investigations are needed to clarify the diagnosis.
