Surgical options for adrenal enlargement are as follows.
If adrenal enlargement is significant and there are more serious problems with endocrine function, surgical excision needs to be considered and the appropriate surgical procedure chosen according to the starting factors. For example, in Cushing’s syndrome caused by Cushing’s disease, surgical treatment is preferred to transsphenoidal or transcranial pituitary adenoma removal, and bilateral adrenalectomy or subtotal excision is also an option; in primary aldosteronism aldosteronoma with unilateral adrenal hyperplasia is preferred for surgical treatment.
