Can Achilles tendon surgery and flap surgery be done at the same time?

Whether Achilles tendon surgery and flap surgery can be done at the same time mainly depends on the degree of injury, patients with mild injury can be done at the same time in phase 1, while patients with severe injury need to have Achilles tendon repair surgery first, and then consider flap surgery in phase 2.
1. Patients with mild injuries: The Achilles tendon is the thickest tendon tissue in the human body. After rupture of the Achilles tendon, most patients need to undergo Achilles tendon surgery to restore the integrity and continuity of the Achilles tendon. If flap surgery is needed, it usually indicates an open Achilles tendon rupture. If the wound is relatively clean in an open Achilles tendon rupture, usually Achilles tendon surgery and flap surgery can be done at the same time in one stage.
2. Critical patients: If the wound of an open Achilles tendon rupture is heavily contaminated, it is usually not recommended to do both procedures together. If flap surgery is chosen in the first stage, the survival rate will be lower if the wound is heavily contaminated. Usually, the Achilles tendon is repaired in the first stage, and flap surgery can be considered in the second stage after the wound is relatively clean.
