What to do about cysts of renal pelvic origin

Cysts of renal pelvic origin are mostly caused by abnormal development of ureteric buds, and the cysts are often located in the renal medulla where it communicates with the renal pelvis and calyces. Some asymptomatic patients do not need to be treated, while symptomatic patients may need to be treated by diverticulotomy or nephrectomy.
1. No treatment: some patients have small diameter cysts and no obvious symptoms, so no treatment is needed at this time.
2. Diverticulotomy: patients with small diverticulum and symptoms such as renal hypertension, pain in kidney area and blood in urine can be treated by diverticulotomy.
3. Nephrectomy: Patients with cysts more than 10 cm in diameter or those who have caused severe renal injury may require nephrectomy.
Cysts of renal pelvic origin should go to the hospital in time and actively cooperate with doctors for treatment.
