What are the sequelae of herpes zoster neuralgia?

The sequelae of herpes zoster neuralgia, i.e. posterior neuralgia, mainly manifest as pain, which is various in nature, such as burning, pins and needles, electric shock-like pain, and even an ant-like sensation and numbness. Severe patients may develop psychiatric symptoms, such as anxiety, depression, communication disorders, and even suicidal tendencies. Other sequelae include the following: 1. Hunt syndrome: a specific type of herpes zoster occurring in the ear; 2. Herpes zoster in the trigeminal nerve region, which can leave facial paralysis, reduced vision, or even blindness.
