What does HPV lesion mean?

HPV is a human papillomavirus. Persistent high-risk HPV infection can easily lead to cervical lesions; persistent low-risk HPV infection can easily lead to genital tract and perianal warts, such as condyloma acuminata and flat warts. When HPV infection is found in the absence of cytological lesions, only HPV infection does not require treatment, that is, when no warts are visible to the naked eye or the cervical TCT test is normal, in this case no treatment is needed. HPV infection alone can be self-healed by improving one’s immunity, except for HPV type 16 and 18 infection. When HPV type 16 or 18 infection is found, a cervical biopsy under colposcopy is required because HPV type 16 and 18 are the main pathogens that cause cervical cancer.
