How long before lung nodule surgery for localization

Localization is done about half an hour before lung nodule surgery. Localization of the nodule may be required prior to lung nodule surgery, with the goal of identifying the area of the lung nodule that needs to be surgically treated so that the most appropriate surgical incision and location can be selected. Pre-surgical localization of lung nodules does not take long and can usually be done in less than half an hour, or if the lung nodule is small and single, the pre-surgical localization can be completed in about ten minutes. Once the lung nodule localization is complete, the lung nodule is ready for surgical treatment. While the surgery time for lung nodules is longer than the localization time, the surgery time for benign lung nodules is relatively shorter, and malignant lung nodules also require lymph node clearance, which takes relatively longer.
