The procedure for minimally invasive surgery for pulmonary herpes is not complicated. Generally, 1-3 incisions of about two centimeters are made in the chest wall on the side with the pulmonary bullae, and then a thoracoscope is entered and the pulmonary bullae are explored under the thoracoscope. For larger pulmonary blisters, they can be removed with a disposable lumpectomy suture; for smaller pulmonary blisters, they can be cauterized with electrocoagulation. After the treatment of pulmonary blisters, the operation is completed by rubbing the dirty and mural pleura with iodine gauze or medical gauze to promote aseptic adhesions in the pleural cavity and reduce the chances of pulmonary blister rupture, leading to pneumothorax.
