Don’t they remove the cervix these days?

Not all hysterectomies do not preserve the cervix and are categorized into those that do and those that do not. Hysterectomies are categorized as total hysterectomies with or without cervical retention and subtotal hysterectomies with cervical retention. Different types of surgery are suitable for different types of diseases. 1. Total hysterectomy: removal of the entire uterus, including the cervix which may develop malignant changes, suitable for patients with fibroids who do not need to retain their reproductive function, cervical cancer, endometrial cancer, uterine sarcoma and so on which can be treated surgically. 2. Subtotal hysterectomy: for relatively young patients with uterine fibroids or adenomyosis who require cervical preservation, subtotal hysterectomy is feasible. In this case, uterine sarcoma or combined endometrial cancer should be ruled out as far as possible before operation, and the risks should be fully explained to the patients and their families. Whether or not to preserve the cervix during hysterectomy should be considered in the light of the patient’s condition, and professional physicians can be consulted.
