Can young people get appendicitis?

Young people can also get appendicitis because of its high incidence, accounting for about 10% of surgical outpatient emergencies. Appendicitis occurs mainly due to the anatomy of the appendix, which is a blind end, and if the tract is too long or malformed, it can also lead to obstruction of fecal stones or obstruction of the evacuation of the appendiceal cavity contents, secondary to obstruction and infection. Patients may present with right lower abdominal pain, fever, and in severe cases, septicemia and perforation of the appendix. The most effective treatment is appendectomy, especially in children or elderly people with signs and symptoms that do not match the appendix, which can easily be complicated by appendiceal perforation. In addition, appendicitis is an infectious disease and is treated with routine anti-infection and rehydration after surgery.
