Can a 50-day-old baby’s cough heal on its own?

Whether a 50-day-old infant’s cough will heal on its own depends on the cause of the cough, the specific symptoms and the severity of the condition. If the cough is a common bacterial cold, the child’s symptoms are relatively mild and can usually heal on their own in about 7 days. If it is a viral cold, there are cough, runny nose and other upper respiratory symptoms. In severe cases, symptoms such as fever, drowsiness or crying may occur, which usually cannot be cured by itself and prompt hospitalization is recommended. If the cough is severe due to a stuck foreign body, it is recommended to go to the hospital immediately for examination. If the cough is due to rhinitis, usually in the morning or at night, it is less likely to heal on its own and hospital treatment is recommended. Therefore, for a 50-day-old infant cough, parents are advised to promptly take their child to a pediatric respiratory clinic in a regular hospital to clarify the cause and have a professional doctor treat the child symptomatically according to the specific cough symptoms.
