“Therefore, human physiological activities and pathological changes are inevitably influenced by factors such as seasonal and climatic rhythms and the geographical environment. Individual differences such as gender, age and physique of patients also have an impact on the occurrence, development and regression of diseases. Therefore, in the treatment of diseases, it is necessary to analyze and differentiate according to these specific factors, so as to develop appropriate treatments and prescriptions, which is known as the so-called “appropriate to the time, place and person”, and is a basic principle that must be followed in the treatment of diseases. According to the characteristics of seasonal and climatic rhythms, we can formulate appropriate treatment principles, which is called “making appropriate treatment according to the time”. The word “season” refers to the climatic characteristics of the natural world, and refers to the time changes of the year, month and day. The “Spiritual Pivot – The Yearly Dew Theory” says: “Man and heaven and earth also participate, and the sun and moon also correspond.” Thus, the year, month, season, day and night, morning and evening time factors can affect the different climatic and physical characteristics of nature, and at the same time bring about certain effects on the physiological activities and pathological changes of the human body, therefore, attention should be paid to the therapeutic contraindications under different climatic and temporal rhythms. In terms of seasons, because of the wide range of climate change between seasons, it also has a great impact on human physiology and pathology. For example, in the summer heat, when the body is Yang, the coup is loose and open, it is easy to sweat, even if you feel wind and cold and disease, pungent and warm products should not be used too much, so as not to hurt the Jin and consume gas or help the heat to change. As for the winter season, the human body is full of yin and Yang Qi, the couples are dense, the same feeling of wind and cold, the pungent and warm agents used without hindrance; but at this time, if the disease is hot evidence, it should be careful to use cold products to prevent damage to Yang Qi. That is, as “Suwen – six elements of the discipline of the great theory” said: “with cold far from cold, with cool far from cool, with warm far from warm, with hot far from hot, food should be the same method.” That is, when using cold prescriptions and food, when avoiding the cold of its climate; when using warm prescriptions and food, when avoiding the warmth of its climate. Another example is that summer heat is more damp, so in the summer more attention to clear the summer heat and damp; autumn dryness, it is appropriate to lightly promote dryness. In terms of day and night, the ratio of yin and yang is different, and people should also be. Therefore, certain illnesses, such as Yin deficiency of the afternoon hot flashes, wet temperature of the body heat does not rise and after the afternoon aggravated. The spleen and kidney Yang deficiency of the five night diarrhea, etc., also has the characteristics of the day and night phase, should also consider the implementation of treatment at different times. In acupuncture, the “Zi Wu flow injection method” is based on the relative specificity of taking meridians and acupuncture points at different times, which is the best embodiment of timing treatment. According to the characteristics of different geographical environments, we can develop suitable treatment principles, which is called “according to the local conditions”. In different regions, the terrain is high and low, the climate is hot, cold, wet and dry, and the nature of soil and water varies. Therefore, people living in different regions for a long time have different physical differences, and their living and working environments, habits and ways of life are different, so their physiological activities and pathological changes are not the same, the implementation of treatment according to local conditions is to consider these differences. For example, in the southeast of China, the climate is warm and humid, Yang Qi is easy to leak out, people are more loose couples, easy to feel external evil and cause colds, and generally wind-heat, so commonly used mulberry leaves, chrysanthemum, mint a kind of pungent cool agent; even if the external wind-cold, but also less with ephedra, cinnamon and other warmth of the larger drugs, but more with thorny mustard, wind and other warmth of the smaller drugs, and the portion should be light. In the northwest, the climate is cold and dry, the yang energy is internalized, people’s couples are closed, and if they feel evil, they are mostly wind-cold, with ephedra, cinnamon and other pungent and warm relievers, and the portion is also heavier. There are also some diseases occurring in different regions closely related to the geological water and soil conditions, such as endemic goiter, big bone disease, Keshan disease and other endemic diseases. Therefore, the treatment must be tailored to the different geographical backgrounds in which the disease occurs and the appropriate treatment methods and means must be implemented. According to the patient’s age, gender, physical condition and other different characteristics, to develop appropriate treatment principles, called “according to the individual”. Different patients have their own individual characteristics, so each patient should develop appropriate treatment rules according to their age, gender, physique and other individual characteristics. 1, age age is different, the physiological function, pathological response is different, treatment should be treated differently. For example, children are very vigorous, but the internal organs are delicate, qi and blood are not yet full, the onset of the disease is easy to cold, easy to heat, easy to deficiency, easy to real, the condition changes quickly. Therefore, the treatment of pediatric diseases, the amount of medicine should be light, the course of treatment should be short, avoid using harsh doses. In young and strong people, the qi and blood are vigorous, the internal organs are full, and the disease is mostly manifested as real evidence due to the intense competition between evil and positive, so the focus can be on attacking the evil and dipping the real, and the amount of medicine can be slightly heavier. While the elderly, vitality declines, qi and blood decay, the internal organs decay, the disease is more manifested as deficiency, or deficiency in the real. Therefore, more with the method of tonic deficiency, or both attack and tonic, the amount of medicine should be less than the young and strong, the disease is stopped. 2, gender men and women are different, each has its own physiological and pathological characteristics, the treatment of drugs should also be different. Women’s physiology is based on blood, the liver as the innate, the pathology of menstruation, belt, fetus, birth diseases and breast, uterus disease. During menstruation and pregnancy, the use of drugs should be cautiously used or forbidden, such as drenching, breaking blood, heavy fall, opening orifices, slippery, running and poisonous drugs; dampness should be dispelled in the case of dysbiosis; postpartum diseases should be considered whether there is incomplete dew or deficiency of qi and blood, so as to adopt appropriate treatment. Men’s physiology is dominated by essence, with the kidney as the innate, and pathology is prone to essence deficiency and specific diseases and disorders of male dysfunction, such as impotence, yang strong, premature ejaculation, seminal emission, slippery sperm and semen abnormalities, etc. It is advisable to combine specific pathology and treatment on the basis of regulating the kidney. On the one hand, different physiques have different susceptibility to disease and evil, on the other hand, after the disease, due to the differences in the body’s constitution and reactivity, the disease has a tendency to be different between hot and cold, deficiency and reality or “from the chemistry”. Therefore, the treatment method and prescription should also be different: for a body with Yang or Yin deficiency, warming agents should be used with caution; for a body with Yin or Yang deficiency, cold products should be used with caution; for a strong and solid body, the amount of attacking drugs can be slightly heavier; for a weak body, tonic agents should be used. The principle of the three causes and the appropriate treatment reflects the holistic concept of TCM treatment and the principle and flexibility in the application of evidence-based treatment. Only by considering the disease and the weather, the geographical environment, and the individual factors of the patient in a comprehensive manner can the therapeutic effect be improved.
