Difference between Bell’s facial palsy and Hunter’s facial palsy

When the facial nerve is damaged, the upper and lower eyelids do not close and the eyeballs turn outward when the eyes are closed, which is a common symptom in all patients whose eyelids do not close. Hunter facial palsy is mainly caused by herpes zoster invading the geniculate ganglion, and the patient has auditory hypersensitivity, pain in the mastoid region and behind the ear, resulting in herpes in the external ear canal and tympanic membrane, which is not present in all patients with facial palsy, but only in patients with herpes zoster virus infection. Therefore, the two are different, one is present in all patients with inability to close the eyelids, and the other is a viral infection, caused by a specific virus.
