Chinese patent medicines for dispelling dampness generally include Liu Jun Zi Pill, Xiang Sha Liu Jun Wan and Ginseng Ling Bai Zhu San.
1. Liu Jun Zi Pill is composed of Codonopsis, Atractylodes Macrocephalae, Poria, Semen Ha and Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae, etc. It can tonify the spleen and benefit the vital energy, dry dampness and resolve phlegm (dispel phlegm in the body with dampness-drying drugs). It is used for weak spleen and stomach, etc. Adverse effects are not clear. Not recommended for pregnant women. Avoid cold, greasy and indigestible food. Not applicable to Yin deficiency of the spleen and stomach (insufficient Yin fluid in the spleen and stomach), which is mainly manifested as dry mouth, red tongue with little fluid, and dry stools.
2. Xiangsha Liujun Pill is composed of Mu Xiang, Sha Ren, Codonopsis Pilosulae, Atractylodes Macrocephalae, Poria, and Roasted Licorice, etc. It is used for benefiting qi, strengthening the spleen (regulating the qi mechanism of the spleen and stomach), and harmonizing the stomach. It is used for spleen deficiency and qi stagnation, indigestion, belching (hiccups) with little food, epigastric (abdominal) distension, and loose stools. Diet should be light, avoid alcohol and spicy, cold and greasy food. Adverse reactions and contraindications are not clear.
3. Ginseng Ling Atractylodes Macrocephalae is composed of ginseng, poria, atractylodes, Chinese yam, white lentil, etc. It can nourish the spleen and stomach, and benefit the lung qi. It is used in treating weak spleen and stomach, loose food, shortness of breath and cough, tiredness and fatigue. Avoid indigestible food. Not suitable for patients with cold and fever. Adverse reactions and contraindications are not clear.
