Hawthorn and Jin Nai Jin can be used as Chinese herbal medicines, and are generally not clearly harmful when used reasonably under the guidance of a physician. However, it should be noted that people with weak spleen and stomach should be cautious of taking hawthorn; people with weak spleen and no accumulation should be cautious of taking gold in the chicken. 1. Hawthorn: its flavor is sour, sweet, slightly warm, with the efficacy of eliminating food and strengthening stomach, promoting qi and dispersing blood stasis, resolving turbidity and lowering fat (cleansing the body of dirty and turbid substances and reducing excess fat), it can be used in the treatment of stagnation of meat and food, distension of stomach and epigastric region, diarrhea and abdominal pain, menstrual closure of stasis of blood, post-partum stasis and obstruction of blood flow, heart-abdominal stabbing pain, chest paralysis (stuffy pain of the chest), heartache, pain of hernia and hyperlipidaemia, and other diseases. 2. Chicken Neijin: its taste is sweet, nature is flat, it has the efficacy of strengthening stomach and eliminating food, astringent essence and stopping emission (consolidating semen, preventing and controlling spermatorrhea), and clearing gonorrhea and dissolving stone, it can be used in the treatment of food stagnation (food is not digested well and stops accumulating in the stomach) and not eliminating, vomiting, diarrhea, urinary emission, spermatorrhea, stone gonorrhea (discharging gravel in urination or urinating suddenly interrupted, pain in urethra, intolerable pain in waist and abdomen), astringent pain and other diseases. It should be noted that the use of hawthorn and ji nei jin should also be under the guidance of physician’s diagnosis.
