How to treat foreign bodies in the eye

If there is a foreign body in the eye, one has to see where this foreign body is located, in this case a CT of the orbit may be needed to see exactly where the foreign body is located. If the foreign body is in the cornea, it is very simple to have the doctor remove the foreign body with the aid of a slit lamp and then a 1 ml needle. If the foreign body is in powder form, which is very difficult to remove, it can also be removed in the operating room with the assistance of a slit lamp or microscope. If the foreign body is in the fundus of the eye, it is very difficult to remove, and in this case it is likely to have to undergo vitrectomy combined with magnetic aspiration surgery, especially if it is a metallic foreign body, which can only be used in this way. There are also some foreign bodies that may not really be able to be removed, but if it is an aseptic foreign body it may not require surgery, and regular review will be sufficient.
