Hawthorn Chenpi Lotus Leaf Infusion Efficacy and Effects

Hawthorn, Chenpi and Lotus leaf have the effect of strengthening the spleen, regulating qi and clearing summer heat, and are used for treating epigastric (abdominal) distention and fullness and other conditions. However, the effect of drinking water is limited, and the medicine should be used according to the doctor’s prescription. Hawthorn has the efficacy of invigorating the stomach and eliminating food, dispersing blood stasis and promoting circulation of Qi, lowering fat and resolving turbidity. It is used in treating stagnation of meat and food, distension of stomach and epigastric region, dysentery and abdominal pain, menstrual occlusion due to stasis of blood and menstruation, post-partum stasis and obstruction of blood flow, tingling of the heart and abdomen, paresthesia of the chest, hernia pain. Caution should be exercised if the spleen and stomach are weak and there is no stagnation or excessive secretion of gastric acid. Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae has the effects of regulating qi and strengthening the spleen, drying dampness and resolving phlegm (expelling dampness by drying dampness and dissolving phlegm), and is used for distention and fullness in the epigastric region, scanty food and vomiting and diarrhea, and coughing with profuse phlegm. Chenpi should be taken with caution in cases of qi deficiency, internal solid heat, and yin deficiency with dry cough. Caution should be exercised if there is solid heat inside and the tongue is red with little fluid. Lotus leaf has the effects of clearing summer heat and removing dampness, elevating Qing Yang (conveying nutrients from digested food to the head and face, etc.), cooling blood and stopping bleeding. It is used in treating summer-heat and thirst, summer-dampness and diarrhea, diarrhea due to deficiency of the spleen, epistaxis (vomiting of blood and nosebleed due to blood-heat), and bleeding in stool and leakage of menstruation (menstruation with excessive flow or dribbling). Adverse effects of Hawthorn, Chenpi and Lotus leaf are not clear. Tea Replacement Drink has limited medicinal effects and cannot replace medication for the treatment of diseases.
