Necrotizing small bowel colitis in premature infants is not contagious.
Necrotizing small bowel colitis is common in newborns as well as preterm infants. The main feature of this disease is the occurrence of diffuse or limited necrosis of the intestinal mucosa and even the deeper layers of the intestinal wall in the small bowel and colon, which may cause systemic diseases involving the abdominal cavity, respiratory system, and circulatory system. This disease is not contagious, and some of the affected children can be cured, and there is no recurrence of this disease after the cure.
