There isn’t any form of exercise that can lengthen the legs; the ability of the legs to lengthen is related to the ability of the epiphyses to grow. Once the epiphyses close, the legs lose their potential to grow longer. Exercise can make the muscles around the joints of the legs stronger. Exercise can make the legs thicker and stronger and the joints more stable, but exercise cannot increase the length of the bones. If joint function is poor, or if there is arthritis or degeneration of the joints, non-weight-bearing exercises for the joints are often recommended. This type of functional exercise reduces the load on the joints and stabilizes the joints, thus reducing joint pain and swelling.
