What to look for after esophageal stenting

  It is strongly recommended that: i. The head of the patient’s bed should be elevated 15-30° after surgery to prevent reflux. ii.  Second, postoperative cold food, such as popsicles and other cold drinks, should not be eaten to prevent the stent from contracting and deforming and falling off in the cold; Third, one hour after surgery, warm liquid and semi-liquid without residue should be eaten; Fourth, 4 hours after surgery, less residue soft food should be eaten as appropriate; Fifth, when eating, the patient should be in a sitting or semi-sitting position, so that food can pass through the stenosis smoothly under gravity and peristalsis of the esophagus; Sixth, eating should be chewed and swallowed slowly, do not ” Avoid physical labor to reduce the chance of acid reflux; Avoid rough and hard foods; Avoid spicy, fried, coffee, strong tea and other stimulating foods and drinks to prevent increased secretion of gastric acid; Review gastroscopy or esophageal X-ray imaging regularly to observe the patency of the esophagus.
