Can genital herpes recur on its own?

A recurrence of genital herpes can usually heal on its own, but there is a chance that it may recur. Genital herpes is a chronic, recurrent, and difficult-to-cure sexually transmitted disease caused by herpes simplex virus infection of the external genitalia as well as perianal skin and mucous membrane lesions. After infection through active treatment, herpes subsides can achieve clinical cure, but there may be recurrence, recurrence will generally be self-cured. If recurrence is recommended, timely antiviral treatment can effectively shorten the course of the disease, relieve symptoms and prevent complications. If not treated in a timely manner, it may result in a prolonged course of the disease, worsening of the symptoms, and even the emergence of complications. Patients with genital herpes are advised to go to a regular hospital and follow the doctor’s instructions for examination and treatment.
