What to do about synovitis of the knee

Most synovitis of the knee can be treated symptomatically with medications such as celecoxib, or with cause-specific medications depending on the cause. Some cases such as traumatic synovitis can be treated with surgery.

Synovitis of the knee refers to inflammation of the synovial tissue (the inner layer of the joint capsule) of the knee joint due to various reasons.

Controlling the inflammation, avoiding adhesions and cartilage damage, and maintaining the normal structure and function of the knee joint as much as possible are the primary goals of treatment for synovitis, so the first step is to find the cause of the disease, and then to treat the cause of the disease by finding the cause.

First of all, it is the treatment of drugs, which should be treated according to the different causes of the disease. If the disease is caused by infection, it can be treated with antibiotics such as amoxicillin; if it is caused by gout, it can be treated with drugs to reduce uric acid such as febuxostat; if it is caused by autoimmune disease, it can be treated with immune-modulating drugs such as interferon.

Then the symptomatic treatment of drugs, can through celecoxib, meloxicam, etoricoxib and so on to control local inflammation, reduce the patient’s pain, promote recovery.

Finally the disease does not require surgical treatment in most cases. Some patients with traumatic synovitis may need surgery to deal with the trauma, and some patients with knee synovitis caused by severe gout may need arthroscopic surgery to clean out the joint cavity, and synovectomy can be performed if necessary, which can greatly reduce pain.

The use of the above medications is subject to medical advice.
