Is chemotherapy necessary for early stage colon cancer

Early stage colon cancer does not necessarily require chemotherapy, which should be determined according to pathological results and surgery. As early stage colon cancer cells are still limited and have not metastasized and spread to lymph nodes and distal tissues and organs, most of the patients can be cured without radiotherapy after radical surgery to remove the lesions; however, there are some patients whose postoperative pathological results show that there is a high risk of recurrence and metastasis, and they need to undergo chemotherapy for a certain period of time in order to reduce the chances of recurrence. Early stage colon cancer is mainly treated by surgery, and chemotherapy needs to be determined with patients’ personal situation, not everyone needs it, so it is recommended to listen to the guidance and suggestions of professional doctors.
