Bile has four main functions in the human body, namely storage of bile, concentration of bile, secretion of mucus and discharge of bile, as follows: 1. storage of bile: bile secreted by the liver is stored in the gallbladder; 2. concentration of bile: the gallbladder absorbs electrolytes away and concentrates the active ingredients inside the bile; 3. secretion of mucus: it can prevent bile from eroding the mucous membrane and protect the gallbladder; 4. discharge of bile: the gallbladder is generally larger when fasting because storage of bile, and after eating the gallbladder begins to discharge bile to help digest fat. In general, the gallbladder has the function of storing, concentrating and discharging bile as well as secreting mucus to protect the gallbladder function. There are some cholesterol components in the bile and if the concentration of cholesterol is too high, the gallbladder will deposit cholesterol during the process of storing bile and turn it into stones. If there are more gallbladder stones, it will affect the gallbladder storage function, especially if the gallbladder is full of stones, the gallbladder function will be slowly lost and surgery is needed.
