What’s the best way to recover from a patella fracture in the knee

Depending on the degree of patellar fracture, conservative or surgical fixation can be used as a recovery method for fracture healing.
Patella fracture belongs to intra-articular fracture, it is recommended to take x-ray examination to clarify the degree of displacement of the fracture.
1. Conservative treatment: If the fracture is not displaced and is a stable fracture, conservative treatment is recommended: external fixation with the affected knee in a straight position. After about 4~6 weeks of fixation, the fracture will be reviewed by radiographs to see if it has reached the clinical standard of initial healing, and if it has reached the standard of healing, then the cast can be removed and the knee flexion and extension exercises can be carried out.
2. Surgical treatment: If the fracture is obviously dislocated, it is recommended to carry out incision and internal fixation surgery to restore the fracture, and after the surgery, it is necessary to carry out regular disinfection of the incision and change the medication, and carry out anti-inflammatory, supportive and symptomatic treatments. After discharge from the hospital, it is necessary to have a regular review and do the functional exercise of the affected limbs. About 4~6 weeks to take pictures to review, according to the situation of the knee joint flexion and extension functional exercise.
It is recommended that the patient be active in the process of lower limb immobilization quadriceps functional exercise, in order to accelerate the recovery of the patella, to avoid muscle atrophy and weakness of the affected limb.
