The neonatal incidence of cleft lip/palate is related to race. It is 1.7:1000 in Japan, 1:1000 in whites, and 1.82:1000 in our country in newborns. it is a polygenic disease, and sporadic is common. 70% of cases occur in non-syndromic disorders. Clinical features: According to the degree of cleft, unilateral cleft lip can be divided into: I, II, III. I degree cleft lip, cleft is limited to the red lip, II degree cleft lip, cleft up to the skin of the upper lip, III degree cleft lip upper lip to the bottom of the nose completely split. According to the degree of cleavage of the bone, muscle and mucous membrane of the palate and its location, it can be categorized into several types. 1, incomplete cleft palate including: a suspensory fissure, submucosal cryptic fissure; b soft palate fissure, fissure is limited to the soft palate part; c unilateral partial hard palate fissure, fissure reaches the hard palate part, in the fissure can be seen on the side of the plow bone; d bilateral part of the hard palate fissure, hard palate part of the fissure, can be up to the back of the incisal aperture, the majority of the plow bone is located in the middle of the fissure. 2, complete cleft palate including: a unilateral complete cleft palate, cleft from the suspensory directly to the side of the alveolar eminence type; b bilateral complete cleft palate, cleft from the suspensory, renewed over the incisal aperture, directly to both sides of the alveolar eminence type. Cleft lip and palate associated with syndromes or chromosomal disorders are associated with other relevant clinical manifestations. Treatment: Mainly includes feeding care, surgical repair, dental orthodontics, hearing and speech training. Surgical repair is the fundamental treatment. The prognosis of simple cleft lip is very good and the surgical result is satisfactory. Large cleft palate, on the other hand, can cause cosmetic, swallowing, breathing and articulation problems, and surgery is more difficult. Prevention: 1. Avoid ionizing radiation, overdose of medication and contact with chemical substances and viral infections before conception; pay attention to personal hygiene, maintain good living habits, and pay attention to the appropriate amount of physical exercise in order to enhance the body’s resistance ability. 2, in early pregnancy to avoid the application of relevant drugs and control of diabetes is one of the effective measures for prevention. 3, under normal circumstances, the fetal lip in the embryonic 45 days or so by the external sinus and maxillary sinus in the midline fusion formation, is a high-risk period for the occurrence of cleft palate, pregnant women in this period of time with drugs to be particularly cautious.
