Sterilization of wounds may include hydrogen peroxide, 0.5% iodophor, etc., depending on the condition and the scenario in which it is used. For skin surface wounds, if there is combined contamination, it is necessary to disinfect the skin around the wound and the wound itself. For disinfection of the skin around the wound, 0.5% povidone-iodine and soapy water are generally used to disinfect the skin by rinsing and wiping from the inside out. For disinfection of the wound itself, or surgical cleaning of the wound, the wound can be routinely cleaned and disinfected thoroughly with 3% hydrogen peroxide solution, saline, 0.5% povidone-iodine disinfectant in sequence, and in the case of wounds with a high amount of putrid pus, metronidazole solution can also be used for final disinfection. It should be noted that wounds with granulation tissue should not be scrubbed with hydrogen peroxide solution after the first routine debridement, so as not to burn and destroy the granulation tissue and epidermal cells. Clean the wound gently, do not rub back and forth with force. For patients with iodine allergy, avoid treatment with povidone-iodine. The above disinfectants are recommended to be used under the guidance of a clinician. In case of trauma, it is recommended to go to the hospital promptly.
