What does it mean to be positive for surface, e, and core antibodies to the hepatitis B virus?

Positive hepatitis B virus surface antibody, e antibody and core antibody mostly indicate that the patient has been infected with hepatitis B virus in the past, and is basically non-infectious at present. Hepatitis B markers include hepatitis B virus surface antigen, hepatitis B virus surface antibody, hepatitis B virus e antigen, hepatitis B virus e antibody, hepatitis B core antibody, of which surface antibody, e antibody and core antibody are positive at the same time, which often suggests that the patient has been infected with hepatitis B in the past, and has already been immune cleared through the treatment of the virus, and no longer causes disease, and is not infectious. However, it is still necessary to monitor patients’ liver function and hepatitis B DNA load, and a very small number of patients may still be combined with liver injury due to the mutation of hepatitis B virus, showing abnormal liver function and positive HBV-DNA. Therefore, positive surface antibody, e antibody and core antibody of hepatitis B virus are very likely to have recovered from hepatitis B. It is recommended that patients should have comprehensive evaluation of liver function and hepatitis B DNA, and regular follow-up examinations.
