Ginger belongs to the lung and stomach meridians, is pungent and warm in nature, relieving surface cold (removing cold from the surface of the muscle), warming and stopping vomiting (treating vomiting caused by stomach cold by warming the spleen and stomach), resolving phlegm and relieving cough, and relieving the toxicity of fishes and crabs. It is used in treating wind-cold cold, stomach-cold vomiting, cold phlegm and cough, and fish and crab poisoning.
