How does a major triple-positive become a minor triple-positive

The most important way to change from major triple-positive to minor triple-positive is antiviral treatment. If a major triple-positive patient has abnormal liver function, usually with transaminases greater than twice the upper limit of normal, and HBV-DNA greater than 10^5copies/ml, antiviral treatment is required. Some patients will become minor triplets after antiviral treatment. Small triplets are more stable and less contagious than large triplets, but this is not absolute. It is not always necessary to treat either major or minor triplets. The decision is based on the patient’s liver function, hepatitis B DNA and liver ultrasound. Some patients with normal liver function are carriers and do not need treatment, but can be reviewed regularly.
