Ear pressure pain may be related to ear trauma, boils on the external auditory canal and suppurative osteochondritis dissecans of the external auricle.
1. Ear trauma: If the auricle or tympanic membrane suffers from different degrees of trauma due to blunt force, sharp tear, hard object knock, sudden loud noise, etc., and the wound has not fully recovered, pressing on the ear will increase the pressure on the wound, and pain will be felt.
2. Boils in the external auditory canal: If the external auditory canal is infected with Staphylococcus aureus and a boil develops, the skin and cartilaginous membrane of the external auditory canal are closely connected due to the relatively small amount of subcutaneous tissue in the external auditory canal, which will cause the inflammatory boil to easily irritate the peripheral nerves, thus resulting in ear pain. When pressing on the ear, pressure on the external auditory canal can aggravate the pain.
3. Purulent periostitis of the external auditory meatus: Purulent periostitis of the external auditory meatus causes purulent secretions between the cartilage and cartilaginous membrane of the external auditory meatus, and these purulent secretions can form a swelling, which can cause ear pain if the swelling presses on the local nerves by pressing on the ear.
If your ear hurts when you press on it, you must go to a regular hospital to find out the cause of the problem and actively cooperate with your medical professional.
