The main effects of Gan Mei Drink are to benefit qi and nourish yin, astringent the lungs (collecting lung qi) and relieving cough.
Ganmei Drink is composed of Chinese herbs such as umeboshi, licorice, schizandra, hemixia, tangerine peel and almonds, etc. umeboshi can astringe the lungs and astringent intestines, and promote the production of body fluid; licorice can clear away heat and detoxify the toxin and dispel phlegm to relieve cough; schizandra can astringe the lungs and astringent intestines, and expel phlegm to relieve cough; hemixia can eliminate phlegm and stop vomiting by stopping upward flow of gastric qi; tangerine peel can dispel dampness by drying up dampness, and dissolve phlegm evils; and almonds can lower qi to relieve cough and calm wheezing.
This formula adopts the method of astringing the lung and nourishing the yin to treat pediatric allergic cough with deficiency of both qi and yin, which has been proved to have good efficacy by clinical practice. If the child has symptoms such as allergic cough, it is recommended that the patient go to a regular hospital in time for consultation.
