Pregnant women who are in labor but can’t give birth need to identify the cause and treat the symptoms according to the cause. Difficult labor is a more critical situation, usually caused by four aspects, such as labor force, birth canal, fetus, mental factors of the situation. The force of labor refers to the ability of the uterus to contract. If the contractions are too weak or too strong, it is easy to cause obstructed labor. The birth canal is determined by the size and shape of the mother’s pelvis. If there is pelvic deformity or narrowing of the birth canal, it will easily lead to obstructed labor. If the fetus is not in the correct position, such as breech, transverse, occipito-transverse or posterior, it can also lead to obstructed labor. Mental factors such as overstress can also affect uterine contractions and lead to obstructed labor. In case of obstructed labor, the cause should be identified in a timely manner and targeted treatment should be carried out, such as injection of oxytocin in case of insufficient labor force, correction of fetal position in case of fetal malposition, and termination of pregnancy by caesarean section if the problem cannot be solved, so as to avoid adverse effects on the mother and the fetus.
