This formula is made from Gui Zhi Tang with Paeonia lactiflora multiplied by Gui Zhi, which is pungent and warm to promote Yang, while Radix glycyrrhiza glabra and Ziziphi jujubae tonify the Spleen and harmonize the Stomach; Paeonia lactiflora converges Yin and harmonizes the Ying, and eases the urgency of pain relief. This formula takes fever, sweating and malignant wind, abdominal fullness and pain, and fondness for pressure as the main points of diagnosis, and can also be used by those without superficial symptoms. If abdominal fullness is serious, add Hou Pu and Hovenia; if abdominal pain is serious, increase the dosage of Paeonia lactiflora; if constipation is caused by yin injury, add Radix Angelicae Sinensis, Cistanches and Almonds.
