Dermatophytosis is an acute inflammatory disease caused by beta-hemolytic streptococci. It is named after the redness and swelling of the skin lesions, which are like painted pills. It occurs in the lower legs and face, among which those who develop on the face are also called head-hugging fire or big head plague; those who develop on the lower limbs are called flowing fire. It is characterized by a rapid onset, often with chills and fever, and the sudden appearance of limited bright red raised patches of local skin with clear borders, which fade when pressed and revert to red after pressure is removed, sometimes with blisters in the red and swollen areas. The nearby lymph nodes are often enlarged and there is pressure pain. White blood cells are elevated in the blood test. In the acute phase of dermatophytosis, antibiotics are routinely used clinically, but did you know that physical therapy can also play an effective role? Generally, in the acute stage of dermatophytosis, the application of ultraviolet light and ultra-short wave (or microwave) and other physical therapy, 3-5 days the affected area redness, swelling, heat and pain and other symptoms will be significantly reduced, greatly shortening the course of the disease, timely relief of patients’ pain. This is because ultraviolet light and ultra-short wave on the anti-inflammatory effect, and physical therapy for patients without pain and side effects. Treatment of dermatitis is incomplete and prone to recurrence. Once the symptoms are stabilized, physical therapy, such as microwave and infrared, can continue to be applied in order to avoid recurrence. And for recurrent attacks of dermatophytosis leading to skin pigmentation, roughness and hardening, audio electric and ultrasonic therapy will play a more effective and dominant treatment role than drugs.
