Aftermath of having a femtosecond laser

Having a femtosecond laser can treat myopia and is adapted for patients with thin corneas and high myopia. Femtosecond laser is a safe and low-risk surgery, but there may be sequelae such as dry eyes, refractive regression, improper treatment, etc., which need to be decided according to the individual’s situation, and some patients may have no sequelae. 1. Dry eyes: some patients will have dry eyes and discomfort after the femtosecond laser process due to nerve damage caused by laser and cutting corneal stroma, but the corneal nerves will be regenerated. 2. Refractive regression: some patients may have blurred vision again after a longer period of time after having femtosecond laser, and they are found to be myopic again after optometry, which is mainly caused by refractive regression. 3. Improper treatment: Femtosecond laser may be undercorrected or overcorrected when doing myopia surgery, thus failing to achieve the effect of myopia treatment. It is recommended that patients should inform the doctor in time if they have any discomfort after the operation, so as to avoid delaying their condition.
