There are several types of peritoneal dialysis solutions

Broadly speaking, there are many different types of peritoneal dialysis solutions, such as glucose peritoneal dialysis solution, amino acid peritoneal dialysis solution, and dextran peritoneal dialysis solution, depending on the permeating agent. The only one that is used clinically is glucose peritoneal dialysis fluid. Glucose peritoneal dialysis solution is divided into 1.5%, 2.5% and 4.25% peritoneal dialysis solutions of different concentrations depending on the glucose content. Generally, 1.5% is the most commonly used in clinical practice, while 2.5% peritoneal dialysis fluid is used for individual cases such as poor ultrafiltration and more difficult dehydration. The use of 2.5% peritoneal dialysis fluid can lead to a buildup of glucose glycosylation products that can affect peritoneal sclerosis due to the glucose that has to enter the body in the process. So try to avoid using peritoneal dialysis solution with high glucose concentration and try to use 1.5%. If ultrafiltration is not good, you can add Chinese herbs or drugs that improve peritoneal permeability such as heparin to the peritoneal dialysis fluid to ensure the efficacy of dialysis, but it is not advisable to use high concentration of peritoneal dialysis fluid for a long time.
