Can pre-operative orthodontics be done outside the hospital?

Combined orthognathic orthodontic treatment is the treatment of dental and maxillofacial deformities (common dental and maxillofacial deformities such as protrusion of the mouth, geodesic, deviated jaw deformity, etc.), the general process means that the oral and maxillofacial surgeon and the orthodontist jointly diagnose, analyze and develop a treatment plan, then the orthodontist starts preoperative orthodontics according to the program design, and after meeting the surgical requirements, it is transferred to the surgeon for surgery, and after surgery, the orthodontist still performs postoperative orthodontics until the end of treatment. Since preoperative orthodontics usually takes 1-1.5 years and requires monthly follow-up, some patients are not convenient to visit us frequently because of the long distance, so they can first diagnose and analyze in our hospital, make a treatment plan and then bring our treatment plan to the local orthodontist and ask him to follow our plan and come to the hospital for regular (3-6 months) follow-up to ensure that the preoperative orthodontics is carried out exactly according to our requirements. After the surgeon confirms that the surgical requirements have been met the surgeon will make an appointment and schedule the patient for surgery. The surgeon will generally need to follow up with the patient for 3 months after surgery to confirm that the surgery is stable and then the patient can return to the local orthodontist to continue post-operative orthodontics and fine tune the post-operative bite until the end of treatment. We will ask the patient to return for another follow-up visit at six months, one year, 1.5 years, etc. after the surgery.
