Syringomyelia is relatively treatable.
Some infantile syringomyelia will resolve spontaneously. Asymptomatic adult males with small amounts of syringomyelia usually do not require treatment and regular checkups are sufficient. Symptomatic patients have better results with treatment, and surgery is a common treatment option.
Syringomyelia is caused by the production of more fluid in the syringomyelia cavity than can be absorbed, and infantile syringomyelia usually resolves on its own. In adult patients, if there is no obvious discomfort and the syringomyelia is small, it does not require special treatment and has no effect on life. Symptomatic patients may have scrotal swelling and discomfort, which can be treated in a timely manner with good results.
Surgical procedures include syringomyelia reversal, syringomyelia resection, syringomyelia folding and other surgical procedures. If syringomyelia is present, it is recommended to consult a doctor and follow the doctor’s instructions.
