What are the Functions and Pharmacological Actions of Western Green Fruit?

Xizheng fruit has the effect of clearing heat, generating fluids, detoxifying, and treating diphtheria in yin deficiency. Pharmacological studies have shown that the extract of the fruit has a hypoglycemic effect. Xizheng fruit is the dried young fruit of chebula, also known as Tibetan green fruit. This medicine tastes bitter, sour, astringent, and is flat in nature. It has good effects of clearing heat and detoxification (removing heat and poisonous evil from the body) and generating fluids, and can be used clinically to treat pharyngeal pain caused by yin deficiency diphtheria, dry pharynx, dry mouth and other conditions. The pharmacological study of Xizheng fruit showed that 70% methanol extract of Xizheng fruit at a dose of 0.5g/kg to the gavage of rats fasted for 16h, can reduce blood glucose in normal rats after eating maltose for 30min, and has no effect on the blood glucose of normal rats after eating sucrose for all time periods. The adverse reactions and contraindications of Xizheng Guo are not clear, and need to be correctly used under the guidance of a professional Chinese medicine practitioner’s identification to avoid aggravation of the disease.
