PICC outpatient clinic held health education salon for PICC patients
In order to let more PICC patients understand PICC technology, master the daily care of PICC placement, improve the level of catheter care and reduce the occurrence of complications, recently, our PICC clinic successfully held a health education salon for PICC patients, in which more than 60 patients and their families from inside and outside the hospital and all nurses in the injection room participated.
The salon was conducted in the form of theoretical lecture, operation demonstration and prize games. First of all, Associate Professor Gao Wei, the head nurse, gave a wonderful lecture on “Daily Maintenance and Precautions of PICC Placement”, explaining PICC catheter maintenance, observation and management countermeasures of complications in an easy-to-understand manner, and gave an operation demonstration on PICC maintenance for everyone. Nurse Hao Haixia led the patients to play the game of “Let’s find out”, asking them to find out the mistakes and irregularities of PICC catheter maintenance in the pictures. This activity not only improved the communication between nurses and patients, enriched the basic knowledge of patients and enhanced the maintenance ability of PICC catheters, but also further promoted the development of PICC intravenous therapy care in our hospital.
