How long does it take to give birth at full term with an oxytocic injection

Pregnant women will normally go into labor in 1-3 days after a full-term oxytocic injection. However, some pregnant women are not sensitive to oxytocin and it may take longer. Oxytocin mainly speeds up the progress of labor by promoting contractions of the smooth muscles of the uterus. Generally, after the application of oxytocin, the more sensitive pregnant women will experience contractions after a few minutes. Regular contractions are considered to occur when the duration of contractions remains at 40-60 seconds and the intervals between contractions are 2-3 minutes. Regular contractions will be accompanied by the opening of the uterus, and it will take about 11-12 hours for primigravid women to open the uterus, and 6-8 hours for experienced women to open the uterus, and it will take about 2 hours to deliver the baby after the opening of the uterus. However, some pregnant women are not sensitive to oxytocic injections and the whole labor process takes longer accordingly. In addition, the cervix is not as strong as the other pregnant women, which may cause the labor to progress differently. For example, if the cervix has been operated on in the past, and the cervix is scarred, the labor may progress slower than if the cervix has not been operated on. Whether or not an induction of labor is needed or other means of facilitating labor, a more appropriate method of induction can only be chosen after examination by a doctor.
