Determining a minor fracture of the finger requires two types of tests, and in the vast majority of cases the first one is the main one, which is a frontal and lateral X-ray of the finger. The vast majority of fractures, even minor ones, can be detected by the appropriate x-ray. Even relatively insidious fractures can be detected on the vast majority of DR X-rays. However, there are a very small number of minor fractures that are particularly insidious that cannot be visualized, and they require a second type of examination, a CT scan, which has a very high resolution and can easily visualize the insidious fracture.
