What is the reason for the red discharge under the newborn baby girl

A newborn baby girl will have some red vaginal discharge called neonatal pseudomenstruation, which is directly related to the hormonal withdrawal of the mother’s body and to the fact that the gonadal hormone axis in the baby’s body is not fully established. If there is a newborn pseudomenstrual condition similar to puberty, i.e. red vaginal discharge, there is usually no need to treat it. If there is a lot of discharge, disinfecting the perineum with iodophor and changing diapers can be done in a timely manner, and it can be observed until the age of six months to one year, because most female babies are almost clean from hormonal withdrawal at this age, so there is no persistent red discharge. If the vaginal discharge is still persistent at six months to one year of age, it is recommended to further check the pelvic floor vaginal area with ultrasound or even MRI to find out if there is a mass growing in the vagina, which should be ruled out first.
