The test for Mycoplasma pneumoniae is usually done as an antibody test, which is categorized into IgM and IgG antibodies. If both IgM and IgG antibodies are negative, it means there is no infection with Mycoplasma pneumoniae. If the IgM is positive and the IgG is also positive or negative, it indicates a recent infection with Mycoplasma pneumoniae. If IgM is negative and IgG is positive, it indicates a previous infection with Mycoplasma, which does not require treatment, and IgM is positive, which requires treatment. Of course, you don’t need to worry too much about Mycoplasma pneumoniae infection, as long as the regular anti-infection treatment, pneumonia is completely curable.
