Differential diagnosis of swelling in the ear

A feeling of swelling in the ear is an early symptom of middle ear cancer, and in the advanced stage, there is significant pain. Middle ear cancer is a malignant cancer occurring in the middle ear, which accounts for 1.5% of ear tumors and 0.06% of whole body tumors. Differential diagnosis of swelling in the ear: 1. Swelling at the ear hole: In some people, two hard swellings grow at the site of the ear hole, and they grow bigger and bigger. Medically, these swellings are called “keloids” and are one of the most specific types of keloids. 2. Postauricular mastoid edema: Postauricular mastoid edema is a clinical symptom of acute purulent mastoiditis. There is a continuous mucous membrane between the middle ear mastoids, and the mastoid mucosa also has a corresponding inflammatory reaction after the middle ear is infected with suppuration. If the pus is not drained smoothly, or if type III pneumococcal infection is very toxic and destroys the bone, causing edema, hemorrhage, necrosis and purulence in the mucosa of the mastoid process, it becomes acute purulent mastoiditis, which is actually a follow-up to acute otitis media and should be called acute purulent mastoiditis of the middle ear.
