Hazards of Bone Marrow Transplantation

Bone marrow transplantation itself is not harmful to the body, but there may be corresponding complications during and after the treatment, and there is also the risk of treatment failure. The hazards of bone marrow transplantation include some early complications, graft-versus-host disease and so on.
1. Early complications: Early complications include various infections, hemorrhagic cystitis, diffuse alveolar hemorrhage syndrome, some acute toxic side effects related to pretreatment, thrombotic microangiopathy, and so on.
2. Graft-versus-host disease: it can be divided into acute graft-versus-host disease and chronic graft-versus-host disease. Acute graft-versus-host disease tends to be more serious, with multiple organ involvement, and may have a poor prognosis; chronic graft-versus-host involvement of the oral mucosa can appear oral dryness, oral mucosal ulceration, and respiratory damage can also occur with recurrent coughing and so on.
Bone marrow transplant patients and their families need to know about the complications of transplantation in advance, and should receive standardized treatment under the guidance of doctors after transplantation.
