Bowenoid papulosis is mostly caused by human papillomavirus 16 infection. If Bowenoid papulosis grows inside the vagina, surgical treatment and medication are often needed. However, the disease can generally subside on its own and is self-limiting.
1. Surgery: If the patient’s Bowen-like papules are in the vagina, and the papules are single and large, surgical excision is better, while paying attention to the scope and depth of excision.
2. Medication: If the patient’s Bowen’s papule is in the vagina, topical cidofovir ointment, which is a broad-spectrum anti-DNA virus, or imiquimod, or 5-fluorouracil ointment, or oral retinoic acid can be used.
If the patient’s Bowen-like papulosis grows in the vagina, it is recommended to seek medical treatment in time, after clear diagnosis and active treatment under the guidance of specialists.
