What is the treatment for postpartum hemorrhage

Postpartum hemorrhage should be treated with medication or surgery according to the cause, and it is also necessary to replenish blood volume, correct hemorrhagic shock and prevent infection. The main causes of postpartum hemorrhage include weak uterine contraction, placental factors, soft birth canal laceration and coagulation disorders, etc. The causes should be clarified in time and symptomatic treatment should be given. 1. Weak uterine contraction: This is the most common cause of postpartum hemorrhage, which can be promoted by the use of oxytocin and prostaglandin drugs, etc. If the drug treatment is not effective, it can be considered to promote uterine contraction. If medication is ineffective, surgery such as uterine tamponade, uterine compression suture, transcatheter arterial embolization and hysterectomy can be considered. 2. Placenta factor: mainly includes retained placenta, placenta implantation or partial retention of placenta, etc. Immediate uterine examination should be carried out, and the placenta should be peeled off and removed by bare hands inside the uterine cavity; conservative treatment or hysterectomy can be considered in case of placenta implantation. 3. Soft birth canal laceration: in the process of delivery, due to rapid labor, huge fetus, etc., the birth canal injury repair should be carried out after complete hemostasis, and the postoperative antibiotics need to be supplemented, such as cefuroxime, roxithromycin, etc., to prevent the occurrence of bacterial infection. 4. Coagulation dysfunction: blood transfusion should be performed as soon as possible and supplemented with fibrinogen, prothrombinogen complex or coagulation factors. When postpartum hemorrhage is found, reasonable treatment plan should be taken quickly under the doctor’s guidance to prevent life-threatening situation.
